This download of 5 riddles has been matched to Phase 5a (weeks 1-5) of Red Rose LaS. At the bottom of each riddle is a note of which week of Phase 5a it links to, the new learning from that week which is practised in the riddle and GPCs and tricky words which are revised. At the end of that line there is a guide to which book band the factsheet may fit with: Please note, these have not been officially banded – I have used my teaching experience to identify the most likely band.

Teachers' notes provide 'scripts' for each riddle, which can be used for guided or individual reading. They could also be used to inform the use of the riddles for whole class shared reading.
