Phase 3 Tricky Words
Outlines in which children can practise writing the Phase 3 tricky words. Each outline contains a tricky word with the tricky bit in red. Where possible, the theme of each outline is linked to the spelling mnemonics for teaching children HOW to spell the corresponding word.

A set of large dominoes and a matching small set. Match the beginning of a word with its end.
PCMs to make 9 different tricky word games (each with 1, 2 or 3 additional new tricky word(s)). When they read a word correctly the children add a counter (spot) to the fish, snow scene, flower etc.
A set of grids, each focusing on one or more of the Phase 3 tricky words. Great for precision monitoring or for the 'revisit and review' section of the phonics lesson.

A 1 page chart/frieze containing all the tricky words children are taught to read in this phase, as well as a number from previous phases.
