Aspects to be covered are marked with a black dot or text which gives further details. Aspects are grouped under the headings ‘revisit and revise’; ‘teach’; ‘practise’; ‘apply’, which makes the chart particularly useful for lesson planning. The grid makes it easy to see the entire content of Phase 3 at a glance – this is not possible from the ‘suggested timetable’ provided in the Letters and Sounds document.
Possible Uses:
• As a document to aid lesson planning. Teachers can amend the grid as necessary in the light of their teaching.
• As a detailed medium term plan to insert in the school’s phonics scheme of work document.
