Training can consist of whole day, half day or twilight (1.5 hour) sessions. These may focus on participants’ subject knowledge, the Letters and Sounds programme – what you need to know or effective planning, effective phonics teaching, teaching Phases 5 & 6, helping children who can’t yet orally blend/segment, effective interventions for children not making the expected progress, making phonics fun, application of skills in shared and guided reading and writing etc. I am passionate about the teaching of phonics and am often told this is evident in the courses I run. I endeavour to make sessions fun and interactive with plenty of practical activities and anecdotes from my work with children.
