This chart groups the letters of the alphabet according to the way their names relate to their sounds, making the names easier to learn.

Further Details:

Eg the letters t, g, d etc are grouped together, as their names are formed by the sound of the letter plus /ee/. This is particularly helpful for children learning letter names.

Possible Uses:

• Enlarge to A3 to make a poster to use with the children to recall/revise letter names after they have been taught using alphabet songs. Choose a column and explain how the names of these letters relate to their sounds. Then point to each letter in turn, getting the children to call out/chorus the letter names. Repeat with another column.
