Do you want your child to be successful with reading when they start school in September?

Help them develop an important pre reading skill before the beginning of the Autumn term.

This evening workshop for parents/carers of children due to start reception in September 2018 is being run by an infant teacher and literacy consultant. It will give you:

  • The chance to participate in some enjoyable, practical activities which you can use at home to develop your child’s ability to listen to a sequence of sounds and combine them to create words (a vital phonics skill).
  • A useful pack detailing the practical activities above, to make it easy to repeat them at home.
  • The skills to say phonic sounds correctly with your child.
  • The chance to ask questions about the acquisition of early phonics skills.

When:     Tuesday 15th May from 7.45 – 9.15pm

Are you looking for enjoyable ways to help your Reception, Y1 or Y2 child with spelling?

This evening workshop for parents/carers of Reception, Y1 & Y2 children is being run by an infant teacher and literacy consultant. It will give you:

  • An understanding of how children’s spelling develops from Reception to Y2.
  • Some spelling rules which are useful to use with this age group.
  • Some enjoyable, practical ways to help your child learn spellings at home.
  • A useful reference pack detailing the spelling rules and practical activities above, so you can refer to them again at home.
  • The chance to ask questions about the acquisition of early spelling skills.

When:     Monday 21st May from 7.45 – 9.15pm

Terms and Conditions of Booking:

Booking:

  • Places are allocated on a first come first served basis on receipt of payment of £18 via Paypal. Tickets will be emailed to the email address provided during the payment process with Paypal. It is essential that delegates pre-book places – I reserve the right to refuse entrance to anyone who arrives for a workshop, but has not pre-booked and received a ticket. I cannot guarantee a space will be available or to have made the necessary preparations for delegates who turn up without a ticket.
  • If a workshop is full, the payment option will be removed from this page. In this instance, please contact me to let me know you are interested in the workshop. If there is sufficient interest, I will endeavour to add another date.

Cancellation:

  • Workshops may be cancelled in the following circumstances:
    • A last minute illness, which means I am unable to run the session.
    • Events outside my control e.g. damage to the venue, weather conditions making travelling hazardous etc
    • If the minimum number of delegates are not enrolled on the course. In this circumstance, cancellation would take place no less than 2 weeks before the date of the workshop. This is simply to make courses viable.
  • Wherever possible, events that do not go ahead due to the above reasons will be rescheduled.
  • In the event of cancellation due to the above reasons, delegates will be offered the option to transfer to a new date (wherever possible) or receive a refund via Paypal.
  • Bookings are non refundable. If a delegate is unable to attend for any reason, they may choose to send another person in their place, but the original delegate must notify me by email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), providing the replacement delegate's name and email address at least 24 hours before the workshop date.

Attendance:

  • Delegates will not a) reproduce, duplicate or copy or b) sell, trade, resell, or otherwise commercially exploit, any/any part therefore, of the materials and handouts obtained from attending events for any purpose, unless I have given written permission to do so.
  • Please do not bring children to the workshops. They are for adults only and children will not be admitted.

Damages:

  • In the event of the venue making a claim for damages caused to/at their premises by a delegate, this will be paid for by the delegate.
