Free printable golden coin, dustbin and treasure chest for playing Buried Treasure. Laminate the coins, write a word on each (some should be real words and some nonsense). Bury them in the garden/sand pit etc. When your child pulls one out, get him/her to sound out and read the word. If it's a real word, he/she puts it on the treasure box and if it's nonsense, puts it on the dustbin.

Get your child to sound out and read it before everyone looks for the word on their boards. • Turn the cards face down and play the pairs game, where your child turns over a picture and a word card. He/she reads the word and sees if the picture is the right one. If so, he/she keeps the pair. If not, they are turned face down in their places and the next player has a turn.
• Pin up the picture cards around the room/garden. Give your child a word card and get him/her to read it and run to the correct picture.
